Well, this is definitely one of my highlights of this year. There's a lot I want to say, but I'll try to be as concise as I can:
My story regarding Sub Urban is definitely not unique. Younger me thought I was edgy and cool for listening to his music, and he was one of the first artists I actively followed. Over time I branched out a little as I grew older, and in 2022, he practically left my music taste and my mind. There were songs that aged a bit poorly (KMS, WHITEWALL, Isolate), ... read more
Part of me wants to believe this a callback to his older style before he blew up, especially since the song was written in 2019.
A bit simple, but I enjoy it. I like that this feels a bit more upbeat (even with the lyrics). It's a nice change of pace compared to the other releases. And weirdly, the music video for this song is rather relaxing.
All in all, I'm looking forward to the upcoming album.
A pleasant surprise.
These two tracks of course carry his usual cryptic style but with a bit of an atmospheric approach, as well as his new vocals. I really like the experimentation he's going for, and I'm curious to see what Sub Urban's future projects entail.
I know next to nothing about the context behind this song in regards to League of Legends, but holy, this song blew me away. Maybe because it's I recently listened to Nurture, but the way the lyrics tackle grief is so beautifully written. The piano also works wonders in this song.
Still not playing LoL, though.
I heard "seasons" on Spotify and decided to check out the rest of this EP. Overall, it's nice and cozy. Not much else to say while still being unique with its lofi style. I don't really have too much to comment on each individual track.
Favorites: seasons, ocean floor
Least: summer flows.
