Bobbie's final full length release.

We are unlucky not to have more albums (in 1977 she recorded songs for an album for Warner Bros sadly not released; in 1969 Capitol had shelved some tracks recorded for a vocal jazz album; and her fan club newsletter alludes to some recordings made in 1972 which have never been released). Important here to note that Gentry's unreleased recordings are better than most artists' regular releases, check out the stunning studio outtake from these sessions, 'Smoke'.

Safe now to say Bobbie was pretty much self-produced all along but this is the only album completely written by Bobbie and "officially" self-produced. Ahead of her time, Bobbie was a creative powerhouse and one of the pioneers of writing and producing her own material on record, live and on television. It's on record by the credited series producer that she alone creatively produced all three of her BBC TV series but the BBC just wouldn't allow a recording artist to be given that kind of credit.

From March 1971 until September 1980 she produced 'bang for your buck' Bobbie Gentry variety shows in Vegas as the top bill featured attraction (at the Landmark, the Desert Inn and other classy venues). Bobbie had already performed in Vegas quite regularly from 1968 or so... but from '71 to '80 Bobbie was pretty much only playing Vegas, focused her career on these live shows and was highly paid for them.
