Halloween Special - Album Review Series (1/1)

A solid collab project, though, one I wanted to love much more. I had heard Ric Flair Drip before coming into this, and I'm going to be honest, nothing else on this album quite reaches the high that it does. Don't get me wrong, Metro brought his A-game here with his excellent moody and grim production applied really well all over this album, and 21 as well as Offset did pretty well all things considered, but there was much left to be desired.

Metro, at least in my opinion, absolutely carries. His production, once again, is just outstanding. It's simply mesmerizing. Where I think this album goes a bit south is with it's voices. I'm going to be honest, some of these verses are just really forgettable, and tend to fade into the background at points. This is one of those albums that I prefer hearing over actually listening to, because they both, 21 especially, tend to phone things in sometimes. This album is great when 21 and Offset go off, but when they don't, it tends to fade into the background a bit too much for my liking. Alright, I don't mean to keep hating on 21, but sometimes he just straight up sounds bored, he often doesn't match the energy at all, which is something Offset does very consistently, even if his verses aren't always crazy.

However, even with these seemingly major issues, Without Warning is still mostly a great listen. As I said earlier, when 21 and Offset go off, this album is great, and they often do more than they don't. Metro also just doesn't miss at any point, and his beats breathe so much life into this project. I mean, even if Without Warning is fairly predictable, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Especially when it's as good as it is flaws and all. Yeah, the best and worst songs are what you'd expect, but this album is still consistent. So, I'd say in total, this is a pretty great Halloween listen, and just a great listen in general.

Best Tracks: Ghostface Killers, Ric Flair Drip, Nightmare
Weakest Track: Still Serving
