The Haken album I never give enough credit for how good it really is. I think every song on this album really profits from being listened to one after another. The obvious highlight on this album is The Architect, but honestly every song is great in it's own unique way. The 80's synth heavy aesthetic really shines through on 1985, but it's the main musical consistency throughout the album. The story of the album is really cool, but I have to admit that I don't understand any of it past The Architect.
My only problem with this album is that it has no songs that I really love. It feels more like I admit that the album is very good, instead of actually loving it myself. Maybe listening to it more will do the trick, but this album is still one of my least favorite Haken albums. But, what can I say, Haken doesn't have a single bad album, so least favorite doesn't mean it's bad at all. It's great.
