I’m returning to this album in full for the first time in at least a year and a half, and man am I loving it even more. On first listen there were songs I loved, Compact Objects, Cold Man and You Belong / Built Myself, but i remember that feeling of wish he went a little further with this album. Gotta say I’ve completely flipped on that.
Other than maybe In Her Element, which stagnates a little, this album fits with its title perfectly. Every song has such a compact mix of these weird and quirky sounds, and they make for super impactful tracks. Glancing over Morne Diablotins on my first 2 listens was my biggest mistake, way more edm-y than I’ve seen Swardy get in a while and it has a great progression. I think this album exudes as much character as Swardy’s music always had, and I’m glad it got some recognition, I’m hoping for an even bigger return though.
