This album causes me genuine physical pain. The production sounds so god awful and overcooked. 'High Hopes' actively kills any hope and dreams I still have left. It's somehow both dry and drowning you in sheer painful noise. The first half of the album is ear-piercing pop that's probably radioactive, and the second half is boring pop that can (and should) be zoned out.
This album has consistent issues with production and vocals. Songs are either boring or bad. There are moments where I was genuinely disgusted, Notably all of 'Star Spangled Banger' and a part of 'Something about Maggie'. I feel like the mixing drowns out Urie's vocals on tracks where he's trying to sound triumphant (notably on tracks 1 and 7). There are also many transitions that... just didn't work.
burger king is the worst fast food in town and the worst ad on spotify
It's not as bad as I expected. Tracks 3 and 6 were close to being not bad, and track 6 was actually decent. The album suffers from terrible production and lyrics consistently though. The latter half of the album is really awful. Every song feels like it runs way too long even if it's only 3 minutes.
Favorite Song: Sober Up, Turning Out
Devastating, beautiful, and comforting. The 3 artists on this seem to work really well together here. I enjoyed this front to back, but some points really highlighted above others.
Favorite songs: Not Strong Enough, Satanist
This album makes me deeply uncomfortable. A 30 year old man singing about emo girls is extremely creepy. The entire album feels like he's trying to pander to a scene of high-schooler emo kids in the most generic way possible. This is what you would get if you asked an AI to write a pop-punk album
The bridge on Helena gives me chills.
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge consistently delivers a beautiful sound, with an overarching theme of mourning. Blending together pop-punk and hard rock, it's energetic from front to back. The Ghost of You, You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison, and Thank You For Your Venom are never-skips and songs I love to death
