Even though the first song is literally called When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die, this album has an incredibly calming effect on me and it quiets my anxiety when the world feels overwhelming.
My favorite album of the year so far - a darkly brooding, minimalistic and sensual record with a slow-burn sexy atmosphere.
The first single ("Dance Of The Clairvoyants") felt like a bold step in a new direction, easily their best single in ages, hinting at a record willing to take real risks and stretch their sound, yet much of Gigaton plays it safe, leaning on well-worn Pearl Jam dynamics rather than building on the spark the lead track suggested. It’s far from bad, just frustratingly cautious.
