Rock legend, David Bowie, dabbles in the New Wave sound as it takes over the mainstream music scene, and my, has he done well!! From the start to the finishing track, this almost perfect dance record is filled with quirky riffs, fabulous production, clever melodies and entertaining lyrics. Highlights from the album would be the opening track, the title track and Criminal World. The production of the whole album is genius and a blueprint for future music makers. This can be seen, exacuted perfectly on Modern Love, a song co-produced by pop-icon Nile Rogers, who is always a great choice to work with. The song's chord progression and a use of complex and multi-layered intromental backingtracks syncronise perfectly and effortlessly with Bowie's voice, wich is one of the best performances of his career. The themes of the album are diverse and thought provoking, whether it is the quirky romance of China Girl, the storytelling of Criminal World, or the scandal of Modern Love, the lyrics will never fail to intrique a listener. 'Let's Dance' is a highly recomened listen, and a must for all Bowie and New Wave fans everywhere.
