Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper

dancing. without. moving.
Quadeca, certainly now one of the biggest staples of the underground music scene, a story of progression, trial and error, and finally, success.
[First Listen] I'm super surprised by how dynamic, varied and consistent this album is. It has everything Quad has been perfecting this decade. The braggin', stylish highlights of From Me To You, the somber, scary moments of I Didn't Mean To Haunt You, and the catchy styles of SCRAPYARD.

I'm genuinely ... read more

i think you're goddamn lying...
somehow, i've managed to live 2 years and 8 months and a half without writing anything about IDMTHY. Not only my introduction to Quadeca as a whole, but a snowball that would severely impact the trajectory of my music taste. It's an understatement to say this is one of my favorite albums of all time, yet, even after so much since its release, i still manage to discover new meanings behind every lyric, every beat, every cut.

That's why i ... read more

Quadeca - From Me to You

somehow, i remembered this being to much worse, cringier and boring(er). after years without a full listen, i was gladly surprised to find this album is actually quite good, it is VERY entertaining and honestly, amazingly arranged. The theme sticks heavily, and its soundscapes are super iconic and memorable. A "From Me To You" song is recognizable almost inmediately.

i'm happy i decided to revisit this again:) Also 'Candles on Fire!' is SO GOOD omg genuinely one of ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS

woah
woah

FAVORITE: Don't Tap That Glass / Tweakin'

Spiritbox - Tsunami Sea
79

honestly quite a blast. this has been growing a lot on me lately, specially 'Keep Sweet' omg i've had that one on repeat this past week. First half is better IMO. Also, 'Crystal Roses' is overhated. Very cool, it doesn't feel like its 43 mins long, that time flies

Favorites: Keep Sweet, Soft Spine, Tsunami Sea

Poppy - Negative Spaces
74

first time i've ever heard any poppy album in full. if ur not too tired of the modern metalcore Jordan Fish sound then its a cool listen, i think the second half is stronger. i actually dont like the opener that much. i dont mind the interludes

FAVORITES: crystallized, nothing, the center's falling out [best one?], negative spaces

Yelsid - El Yelso
9

"El Yelso" es genuinamente una de las experiencias más drenadoras que he tenido escuchando un álbum. No es irónicamente chistoso, no es entretenido, no pega, la letra es estupidísima. La letra la RECICLA entre canciones. Genuinamente cual es el punto.

O sea no me iba a gustar anyways porque ni los hits de Yelsid (El Bus, Volverás A Mi, etc.) me gustan xd

A continuación, un muy elaborado y detallado DEEP DIVE a cada canción de este ... read more

look i like some sleep token songs but this one suuuucckkksss

Jane Remover - Dancing with your eyes closed
96

the glitches give me reasons to live

Cybertrash - HEAVEN IS BLUE
79

guys i like this album. it varies a lot between hype glitch pop and indie pop, and just downbeat acoustics. its enjoyable in a sad way y'know? the quality can vary a little but overall its either consistant or great.

FAVORITES: BLUE (best one with difference), KLK, blameless

Oceanic-air - we disappear into the moon
83

oceanic-air's first dive at vocals with no autotune leaves an interesting result. The natural rawness of the vocals, its main selling point, sticks to that feeling quite well, with these distorted guitars and genuinely very catchy, punchy drums. Yes, maybe the vocals could've been processed a bit more (more present reverb?) but thats a personal preference

Therefore, we have an enjoyable song. I'd have to agree on working on vocal timing, its not a huge deal tbh. Excited for her ... read more

Asian Glow - 11100011
82

the main thing i'll have to compliment is the absolutely fantastic melody writing this album has. Every layer sounds great with each other, and everything else keeps the pace just right. i think i'll have to start listening to more Asian Glow because these last two projects have me REALLY surprised. waow

high, very high potential to grow.

FAVORITES: Out of Time, 11100011, Camel8strike

Asian Glow - Unwired Detour
81

wow i LOVED this. the only thing i've heard from Asian Glow before was the Weatherglow EP which was cool, but most importantly, the Paraglow EP with literally got me into Parannoul, Shoegaze, and AOTY as a whole. I could literally listen to this sound for a while before getting tired. It's SO GOOD

High, very high potential to grow. Heard this before listening to the newest one so, 2025 Asian Glow... here we go!

FAVORITES: Koroitamago #2, Faucet, Tunnel of Glass

Edward Skeletrix - Museum Music
NR

ok so i'll definitely have to compliment the creativity of this aesthetic. I think very few would succeed at achieving a glitchy, broken and confusing sound like this one. as for the rest, i cant help but feel im super out of the loop on understanding what it actually means. this is the first and only thing i've ever heard from Edward Skeletrix so i'd make sense. therefore, i have ZERO idea how to score this, so i wont (yet)

FAVORITES: Plastic Body, Skeletrix Island, Making Art ... read more

pretty, depressed - skin to skin
80

YES OMG ok so pretty, depressed its this project which i am very fond about and have been following it closely since the release of the last EP, 'it's a mess, i'll be ok". This once comes to start the year strong.

This is genuinely one of the most charming acts the underground has to offer, and it shines a bright future for the scene and the artist herself. The guitarwork its really cool all throughout and the drums have managed to keep up the pace correctly. I was ... read more

Frail Body - Artificial Bouquet
80

After being amazed by 2019's 'Your Death Makes Me Wish Haven Was Real' and _crustbag_'s latest video i just HAD to check this one out. Its FAST. Its POWERFUL. Its RAW. and also, through the amazing guitarwork, generally, really hypnotizing. These guys' riffs are genuinely something special.

As someone new to the Emoviolence genre, i can find many aspects repetitive towards the end but i feel that that's on my end, so high potential to grow.

FAVORITES: Devotion, ... read more

ericdoa - why suffer for us?

y'all are sleeping on 'one for the troops' genuinely so good. also, 'do ya?' is probably his catchiest song ever like omg. great EP

Ally Evenson - BLUE SUPER LOVE
77

First time I’ve heard from Ally, this is some REALLY solid pop, that truly demonstrate a superior songwriting skill, especially in melodies cuz damn this things catchy. I like the themes and how uniquely they are presented. Really cool stuff.

FAVORITES: Something In The Water, One Trick Pony, Blue Super Love

Jane Remover - JRJRJR
95

I LOVE IT EVEN IF I GENUINELY DONT UNDERSTAND A SINGLE WORD WHATEVER i barely know english tbh

samlrc - A Lonely Sinner

holy shit
omg what the hell

FAVORITES: Storge, Flowerfields, Sinner, Sheep Theme

On kaya!'s review of Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
"honestly, completely understandable. The storytelling is very different from IDMTHY. That album was really explicit on what the character was doing, where he was at any given point, while Vanisher can take the moment to reflect on a certain topic while not necessarily saying "OK so the sailor is HERE and doing THIS specifically" (there's tracks here that do that, of course, but not all of them, while Haunt You was closer to a theater play). Take your time to form your opinion!"

On Geordie Greep - The New Sound
"@jumpoutdawindow well, I definitely didn’t expect Greep to go at that direction. Glimpses of it were seen in Holy, Holy, but its most clear on Terra. I’d say combining those ‘tropical’ sounds with this very intense prog is more on the transformative side of the spectrum"
