This album just turned 20, so I finally sat down and gave it a listen.
Franz Ferdinand's debut album means a lot to me, and I hold that it is a rare case of an album having serious flaws (mostly Cheating on You. Literally any B-Side wouldve done better), it is still an album that I will always believe is pefrect.

Yeah. It’s a masterpiece. Live Right will be one of my favorite songs for a long time. And it’s probably not going to be the only song from this album that makes the cut. All 3 singles were incredible, Party Song was so much fun, Have to Cry really won me over after I wasn’t feeling the first half of the song, and Disco Tomorrow is just something special. Weirdly disappointing. The live performance was cool, but massively overshadowed by the second half of the show. I like the lyrics, but just am not feeling this one still. It suffers from its lack of any chorus' on basically any track.
This album has some crazy nostalgia bait for me, but I can't ignore that there are imperfections. Need You Here ends right as it gets interesting, Door is mixed not super well, and Opening Band is a less white and less annoying version of a Tally Hall song. Still a good tune, but could have been so much better.
But New Invention, Mad IQs, Leave Me Alone, Sugar Pills, and especially the title track.

Big step down, but Dallon can write still write a fine tune. I can't imagine all the stuff with Ryan made this album easy to record. Maybe next time we'll get something like Razzmatazz.
