Over the years Trivium has been a favorite of mine with their album Shogun being one of my all time favorites. This album just didn't live up to what Trivium is capable of. Don't get me wrong, there's a few good, and even fantastic songs on here like Amongst the Shadows and the Stones and Bending the Arc to Fear. There are also in addition a few awful sounding songs that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole like Scattering the Ashes and don't even get me started on Bleed Into Me which is ... read more

Marilyn Manson's latest album shows he's still got some creativity left in him. While the album doesn't totally gain traction, there is enough good stuff here to make a decent record. Lots of influence from David Bowie can be heard here and there on the record, and this album seems to take some aspects from Manson's 1998 record Mechanical Animals. This album was a very interesting listen. At first I didn't quite know exactly what I was listening to, but as I got further and further into the record I was enthralled by the mix of various sounds and tones. The technicality of the mixing on this record is insane. This goes beyond just simple ... read more

The drums in particular stood out for me on this record and they just catch the ear and won't let go. From crushing, fast paced blast beats to slower beats like in the intro of the song "To Ain," the drums consistently sound great. The riffs are also done well and are aggressive and in your face as it should be. ... read more

Alestorm is one of those bands that will always make an at least enjoyable album whether it's good or bad if you're a fan of their sound and style. This album was an absolute blast to listen to, and it's actually a pretty well put together record at that. You would think that they would've exhausted their whole pirate theme by now after 6 albums but somehow on this record it still remains just as appealing as ever. The production is pretty damn solid and the riffs were a standout for me. There ... read more
