The smallest dip in the shiny headed Gibbs' squeaky clean discography.
Kinda odd to release basically half of this (minus interludes) early, but adds a very consistent stretch of tracks on top of an OG album that I was not initially huge on.
Making this the least traditionally sounding rap album just shows such a big point of acceptance that issues will never truly come across 100% authentically and actually make a change. It’s really unfortunate, but that’s the world we live in.
A very meddling middle does not entirely compromise another very strong album from Blue. Super excited for the new drop coming Friday.
One of the first times I've decided to dial in on a full-length beefy review but let's get it. I think my brain might be too small for this one. The second disc was off to a good start then fell into some pretty weird places.
Full of extremely catchy raps with Bronson giving lyrics about anything and everything he can. But should I expect any less?
Smooth lyrics with plenty of heart that blends the basics to make something cohesive and interesting.
A relisten after this has marinated for a few months finally made me realize…yeah this album’s a pretty good return to form.
A super dreamy ethereal sound blended into some very down to Earth lyrics about 6lack’s struggles and upbringing. I definitely have to dig deeper into his discography.
Definitely a lot more sonically versatile than his last album, which I can appreciate; never really knowing what I would get from song-to-song. But along those lines, there are barely any memorable bars (besides 1st Amendment getting predicted for how corny it was) to make this have much replay value. Listening to more of Peggy's pre-LP projects might help cleanse this performative ass burger who needs to get his ego cleansed.
If I ever can’t fall asleep I think throwing this on will be the perfect melatonin.
