Just like every post-"Plastic Beach" album, "The Mountain" is more of the same lifeless slop that Damon Albarn has been delivering for years now. There are no more cool basslines, catchy hooks, experimental production - and the lyrics are just bad. "The Happy Dictator" is such hot garbage - Damon is clearly a western Gen X liberal who thinks the world works like a Marvel movie where one ... read more

As a big fan of UK garage and British electronic music in general, I was really looking forward to hearing this release. I previously loved George Riley's collaboration with Hudson Mohawke on the song "S e x" from a couple of years ago and I expected more of that here. Sadly, "More is More" doesn't deliver.

The record kicks off with a menacing groove reminiscent of Bjork's "Army of Me", but more polished and less industrial. The track "Fun" is a dance cut which keeps up the liquid dark vibe of the 90s with modern polish and the hook "that doesn't sound like fun to me", while ... read more
