Some of the most infectious pop songs I have heard, while being just slightly unique enough to not be derivative. A truly perfect album in my opinion.
I like how the album concept can be extremely summarized into guy takes drugs and dies
This is why hiring middle schoolers as producers is not a good idea
Joyful music for the general public, horror for every retail worker.
Tyler was doing way too much and it resulted in this album sounding absurdly incoherent.
whats with rappers dropping deluxe editions that feels like lazy cashgrabs?
I don't see this as a quality drop from currents. I think the production being more subtle works here and his songwriting still is very good. Currents has WAY higher highs but this album is overall slightly more consistent in my opinion.
It's nice that Kevin Parker is still changing and experimenting his sound even nearing his 40s, but a lot of the songs on Deadbeat isn't very exciting. We waited for 5 years and yet some of the tracks still felt it is in the drafting stages. They're still highlights mind you; Dracula is a fantastic dance-pop song, and End Of Summer has surprising grown on me to become a very solid piece of house music.
