[THE WILDERNESS - ALBUM 16]
I think my bias is about to show...
Look, I was... thirteen when I first heard this? My dad had surprised my mum with MUSE tickets for their anniversary, and as such they realised that they needed to lock in to their newer stuff if they were going to understand what was going on. So, the Spotify account (we all shared one at this point) became stuffed full of this album - the most recent at the time - and the two prior (reviews on the way). And I... loved them.
And now, yes I can see that maybe they aren't the masterpieces I initially took them to be, but I can't help but still find a cushion of love for them somewhere inside of me. I realise I am very swayed by nostalgia here but: I don't care? As long as someone likes it.
Or well... doesn't MIND it.
Track list breakdown:
Algorithm - I can't help but love the sense of scale that this songs imbued on my early teenage brain (8/10)
The Dark Side - Decent stuff (7/10)
Pressure - This is a real nostalgia pick for me. The epitome of a family favourite. (9/10)
Propaganda - Toeing the line between cool and annoying. (5/10)
Break it to Me - Nothing song. (5/10)
Something Human - Sue me, I like it. (7/10)
Thought Contagion - I also like this. (7/10)
Get Up and Fight - This less so much. (5/10)
Blockades - This even less so. (4/10)
Dig Down - (7/10)
The Void - (6/10)

The way I see it, we've all got to have hot takes. Most of mine up until now have been "I don't get the hype", so I was overdue an "I don't get the hate". Trust, once we get past MUSE I'll be back to having acceptable music takes. (5/10)
