[THE ROLLING STONE'S TOP 100 ALBUMS - ALBUM 25/ALBUM 76]

Why did we stop using instruments? Like low-key there are so many instruments in music, why did we stop using them all? That's what 'Superfly' makes me think of. Here, we have electric bass, drum kit, an entire fucking orchestra, saxophones, synths... bro used all the instruments. And shit sounds sick. Bring it back.

Track list breakdown:

Little Child Runnin' Wild - Perfectly encapsulates my point about instruments (8/10)

Pusherman - A bit too bare for my liking (6/10)

Freddie's Dead - Classic earworm bass line (8/10)

Junkie Chase (Instrumental) - Does this sound like a Cowboy Bebop chase, or do Cowboy Bebop chases sound like this (ik it's the latter) (7/10)

Give Me Your Love (Love Song) - (7/10)

Eddie You Should Know Better - (7/10)

No Thing on Me (Cocaine Song) - (6/10)

Think (Instrumental) - Would make for a better love song than 'give me your love'. The dialogue between the oboe and French Horns is just- (8/10)

Superfly - Just a good fucking song innit (8/10)

Ranked:
1. Think (Instrumental)
2. Superfly
3. Freddie's Dead
4. Little Child Runnin' Wild
5. Eddie You Should Know Better
6. Give Me Your Love (Love Song)
7. Junkie Chase (Instrumental)
8. No Thing on Me (Cocaine Song)
9. Pusherman

Although I didn't fall in love with any of the tracks, there's so much god stuff here that I'm looking forward to revisiting it some time in the future (7/10)

And that's as far as I got in terms of the Rolling Stone's list. After this, I go onto what I'm calling the 'Wilderness Years' - in which I explored the stuff I actually thought I would be into, but before I started keeping good track of what I had listened to. So the reviews after this won't have much structure; not until we hit 2022...
