I always got a feeling that Ty is a psych-rock equivalent to an actor of one personality-roles (for the most part), not much of range, but solid at what he's doing, great in right place. It might be a bit stupid comprassion but I think of him as a "Keanu Reeves" of the genre, likeable guy, tends to play the same thing, better or worse, I wish him well and I dig through his stuff to find his better performances.
Manipulator is the peak of Ty being Ty, simple as that, really solid run of songs that show you what he's good at and he makes the best of it. Seriously, you can find some serious gems in there.. well, along with a bit of filler so Manipulator could be 2 songs shorter, but its not that bad
To clear the air I'm not saying that Ty is unable to do anything diffrent, nah, he proved he can change his directions quite well few times even, but he tends to drop the same sounding stuff basicly
