back to back to back with some of the greatest prog rock of all time, and then they dick around with a keyboard and maybe some drums and a little bit of strings for 10 minutes straight, then they get back to good music

The Beatles - Abbey Road
77

really hits its stride at the beginning, and then falls off the face of the planet into mediocre songs until you're saved by The End

Lucrecia Dalt - A Danger to Ourselves
80

AJR - Neotheater
36

AJR - The Maybe Man

AJR - The Click
19

AJR - Living Room
16

my track rating of 0 on three of these songs is hardly an exaggeration, they’re inconceivably bad that i don’t see any arguments for them being at all listenable. like at least for something rated 1 there’s the slim quantity of good i can see in the track, but for 0 no absolutely not i cannot listen to thirsty or im ready or big idea

AJR - What No One's Thinking
70

removing the maximalist bullshit they usually try to pull on every record actually makes this somewhat enjoyable

"its a good sound theyre going for, but they do it in a way that its just not lovable. its like someone got ice cream for you for your birthday but you’re lactose intolerant. it sounds nice that its there, but i cant enjoy it"

"it's because they're drums often featured in trap songs, that's why i call them trap drums because you primarily find them in trap songs. i don't typically find the soundfont of these drums in electronic music because that genre requires diverse sounds to just be good, and if i heard these drums in any electronic songs i'd be severely disappointed because they just aren't good for percussion in that type of music, just like how they are terrible here"
