A perfect folk/americana album. I got hooked on Gillian Welch and David Rawlings when I saw Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman cover Wrecking Ball. Standout songs on this one are Miss Ohio, Wayside/Back in Time, and Wrecking Ball.
Chance to Bleed is one of my favorite songs of the year. Some great songs on here but really just an enjoyable album to keep playing over and over
Consistently great and the peaks are as good as anything he has made. Promised Land, the title track, and Badlands are the clear standouts
A great original song. Was just listening to the Mavis Staples cover album again on this Good Friday and really in my feelings for some reason. It sucks what happened to Jesus, and this song does mention him, along with a bunch of other people who died too young. Really just as impactful a song as it gets
Amazing cover of Kevin Morby's best song. Unfortunately still impactful about 10 years later regarding mass shootings and police brutality. An optimistic protest song
Waxahatchee needs to just release a cover album already. She has too many of them that are so good
Really enjoyable listen. Excited for his new album as this showed a lot of promise
Got to see him open for Merce Lemon and Fust and these songs really shine live. The studio versions are great but I think it is hard to match that. I love the title track, 93, Free, Falling, and Heart's in Georgia and i have been listening to this a ton
Really enjoyable. Excited to see her live this summer. In a few days she or at least her name doppelganger will help me with my march madness bracket i pray
I respect that he is trying something new, but it just sounds unremarkable save a few songs. It has definitely grown on me, but only because I have listened to it non stop trying to get something, anything out of it and form an opinion. I like Aperture, American Girls, and Pop, but a lot of the rest blends together and Harry himself seems in the background. It is a shame because I actually really loved Fine Line and enjoyed Harry's House. I thought he had potential to be a likeable and ... read more
Stellar compilation album full of big names and up and coming stars. I really love a lot of this. I think the standout songs are BCNR and Cameron Winter, but i really love the o rod cover of the Magnetic Fields
Another great album from one of the most consistent songwriters doing it. I really love In A Lake and I already loved the singles, so i will probably be listening to those songs all year. I also love the album cover and title. It is all just obviously going to be iconic and memorable to me
Baby Keem at his most introspective which I love, and you can also sense a maturity that was not present in any of his previous work. Really no weak songs on this whole thing in my opinion, 36 minutes that go by so quickly. He sounds like Andre 3k on I am not a lyricist which is easily my standout track, and the production is outstanding on this whole album. I am gonna be bumping this all year
Realized I never reviewed this. This showed a lot of potential that Keem would improve upon in DFMB and the melodic blue. Hyped for the new album
A great listen even though this is not my genre of music at all. Some weirdly accessible and earwormy songs for how unapologetically original it is and sounds. billy woods always a welcome feature on any given weird ass project
I am gonna be listening to this non stop i can just tell. Very easy listen and even the songs that stretch on for a bit are so pleasant that they breeze by. Seriously I listened to this all day
Really fast listen. Problem is I mostly liked it, but I listened to it like 3 times before I realized. Not a lot of distinct difference between songs. I recommend if you're already a fan of Joyce manor
