I can’t stop listening to Heroes & Villains

Joe Hisaishi is MASTERFUL. Seriously in awe at what he can always do. This has gotta be one of my favorite records from this year.

I’ve always had something of a hate/love relationship with listening to dense, beautiful, swirling albums (some other examples being the Cure’s “Disintegration”, anything by Cocteau Twins [lol], Alvvay’s “Blue Rev”, etc) simply because it’s always a profoundly confusing experience that leaves me dazzled and starstruck and wanting more, and then realizing I *got* enough from the album, and kinda just, lying on the floor in the end with colors ... read more
