Car Seat Headrest - My Back Is Killing Me Baby

Day 5 of listening to the entire discography of Car Seat Headrest (excluding Will's external and earlier work).

“Will Toledo is genuinely the most transmasc coded cis man I have ever had the misfortune of opening my ears to.”
~ A Genius Annotation on the first verse of "open-mouthed boy"

All the jokes aside, this is one of the few projects that made me fell in love with this band. I kind of thought that this project was really charming and emotionally dynamic back ... read more

Day 4 of listening to the entire discography of Car Seat Headrest (excluding Will's external and earlier work).

We came down to the last numbered project in Car Seat Headrest's catalog, "4". The most cohesive one out of all the numbered projects that I've listened to. Personally, this might be the one that I would revisit the most. It's written with much more consistency and brought some of the noisy sound from "3" and applied it with much more ... read more

Day 3 of listening to the entire discography of Car Seat Headrest (excluding Will's external and earlier work).

The jump from 2 to this is actually impressive. Despite its crappy production, Will was able to extend his ability to use multiple instruments. This project sounded more polished than 2 in a couple of aspects.
First and foremost are the lyrics. Will took this project a little more conceptual. With tracks like "beach fаgz", "beach death", and "beach ... read more

Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

It's late night and you and your friends couldn't sleep, so all of you decided to sing along in front of the campfire with the guitar that one of your friend brought. That's the vibe that I'm getting with this album.
This album hits close to listening ... read more

Day 2 of listening to the entire discography of Car Seat Headrest (excluding Will's external and earlier work).

First off, this project was released a month after 1. BUT, the slight improvement made it much easier to listen to.
Will came up experimenting with more lyrical construct and less on the noisy side with 2. I found this to be more enjoyable than 1, but just by a bit.
I'm still going to expect a bigger improvement especially on projects like 3 and 4. Overall, this project ... read more

Car Seat Headrest - 1

First day of listening to the entire discography of Car Seat Headrest (excluding his earlier and external work).

One thing to note, that this project was recorded when he was 17.
The production is... not great. He recorded his project with his laptop microphone for three years... and that includes Twin Fantasy... smh. But this isn't a big issue.
Albeit his anonymity with his earlier work, it might've led him to experiment a lot with his sounds. This is his first project within the ... read more
