I haven't cried to an album like I did to this in a long time. These are songs for the living in a dead time, the hopeful amidst the apathetic, the human amongst the alienated.
This is perhaps the rawest performance I've ever heard, and the most unique I've had the pleasure of listening to from GY!BE. Everything on the first third of this record is played with delectable subtlety and a glacial pace that really forces you to slow down and appreciate the depth that each note adds ... read more
One of the most unique, beautiful, powerful recordings of Godspeed ever. The new recording of this show has completely changed my perspective on it. There is nothing quite like this in Godspeed's history.
All of the songs on here feel complete, unlike in 1998 where they try and change things, leading to an apparent lack of confidence in their playing. On this show, everybody plays perfectly, and their confidence could not be higher. This is The Piece in its final form.
The quality of ... read more
To call this show perfect, to even pen a description of it in a medium so futile as the written word, feels disrespectful. Every show or album I've heard other than this is, no matter how transcendent, explainable to some degree. You can discuss the composition, the quality, the performances, the audience, and other such understandable things, but this show can only be understood in two ways; through vulgar reason, explaining that this music simply stimulates our brain such that it ... read more
To call this recording perfect would be an understatement. Everything here is exceptional nearly to the point of being indescribable.
The audio quality is, I believe, this show's most outstanding aspect. As somebody who saw Godspeed live in 2024, this recording sounds exactly as if I were in the room listening to the show. It is truly impeccable. Even if you include studio albums, this is one of the best recordings I have ever heard, which is made all the more impressive by the fact that ... read more
This show is incredibly consistent, but I feel it lacks the pure greatness of many other Godspeed bootlegs. I feel like I should give this an 100 because I can't point out any flaws with this recording, but it also doesn't have any insane high I can point to as the defining moment of the show.
Overall, great performances, tracklist, and recording, but this lacking something I can't properly describe. Regardless, absolutely worth a listen if you like this era of Godspeed ... read more
While this show has some very high highs such as the Monheim crescendo, Tazer Floyd's first crescendo, all of Albanian, and all of BBF3, the few mistakes present, such as the missed note on Monheim and the part of Hope Drone where the band hadn't synced up causing them to sound super disjointed are too notable for this to be a 100/100 show.
