…and I thought Kreator’s return to form was good. Sodom’s “Code Red” shows Sodom’s old ways are back and better than before with the aggressive vocals, imposing atmosphere and intense political themes that helped define who they were before their experimental phase. Songs like “Tombstone” and “Code Red” have lots of authority with catchy riffs, gruff vocals and a superb performance overall, to the point where I feel their presence throughout the album makes their return to form slightly better than Kreator’s. Although packed with 13 tracks, many songs are short, aggressive tracks that don’t drag overstay their welcome, while many tracks feel fresh even if it starts to feel like the same formula is being reused over and over. Overall, a solid return to form from Sodom.
