Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, unfortunately I don't get this album at ALL. I found it borderline bad with uninteresting production, rapping, and lyrics. The one compliment I have for it is the overarching villain theme with the talking parts throughout different songs.
I've always though Latto is one of the strongest female rappers. I did enjoy this record. I loved the more vibey tracks along with the more boppy ones. I will say 21's feature was the worst on the entire album. There are a few songs I wouldn't listen to outside of the album that did prevent a higher score, however I very much enjoyed the vibe, the soundscape, and Latto's performance throughout. I felt Latto outshone a lot of her features. I will be returning and enjoying ... read more
A spectacular metal album that blends other genres to make a fascinating, gourgeous, and transformative listen. The songwrtiing is superb, the screaming is utilized well, the guitars are sick, and the choruses are strong and sticky. My favorite metal album I have heard, and the first I 100% genuinely love.
Another strong hyperpop release from this year that I will be playing a lot just like WGIA. This was one of my most anticipated releases of this year, and I am thrilled she most definitely delivered. The bops and the slower songs both work. I do think this is more consistent compared to WGIA, but WGIA has higher highs. So, I am just going to stay loving both, and they happened to get the same average score anyway lol
This is a VERY promising debut from Chxrry who is the first female artist signed under The Weeknd's record label. The lyrics need work, but the production, her voice, and attitude hard carry this album for me. It's a fun listen for me minus Groupie, and Main Character is one of my favorite bops of the year. It's just pure fun, and I think this year has been missing that.
