We all know what the centerpiece is here. I have to imagine that that was the primary reason this was recommended to me at all. But! I was pleasantly surprised by a few of these tracks, set amongst the swathes of yawn honk mimimi boooooring ones. Like, Timor? As good if not better than the central hit. I got baited by Estimated Prophet into thinking I would like this as much as I did their previous release (Blues for Allah, also one of the first albums from the series), but…damn, this is a load of nothing for the most part. Yep, I just had a lot of fun here. Falsettos is really unique musically, I reckon- as much fun clarinet work as you might expect, and frankly I'd be disappointed if that wasn't what I got from this. It perfectly lends itself to the story it's trying to tell with the characters it's being told with, and that is the most I can ask of any musical at all.
