Conflicted about this one. On one hand, these dudes cannot rap for shit. So much so that their feature on Live Love is one of the few issues I have with that legendary project. On the other hand, this is some of the most beautiful production I’ve ever heard holy shit. I’m sure than an instrumental version of this would rank notably higher.
Maybe it’s a bit harsh to say that these guys can’t rap, but man they are CARRIED by these beats. Like Lil B can genuinely rap ... read more
Ah 68, truly the magic number I feel like I hand out to fucking everything.
A pretty enjoyable listen, albeit a notably flawed one. The highs are fucking insane, I’ve never heard anything like Daydream, Hydrocodone, or Ice Cream Stoned Strippahs, genuinely out of this world songs that make you wonder how tf a human thought to produce and rap over these beats. Besides those songs, the tape is interesting. Kray has some pretty good rapping performances on songs like Broke Designa or 92 ... read more
Man, what a weird ass listen. Aviv is a great vocalist when he’s rapping above the beat with that loud ass preset, reminds me a lot of my favorite Mach songs. I like Aviv a lot less when he shrinks away from the beat, he sounds like he’s trailing off from the mic and it just doesn’t work as well for me. Soundscape is mostly gorgeous, stunning, and jazzy, though it’s prone to some slow moments. Easily the thing that makes me not like this record as much I could would be ... read more
Half Blood was an okay listen that was hampered by just how rough around the edges it is. Don’t get me wrong, production is mostly really good, but Slayr’s rapping can leaves something to be desired. He can be a solid vocalist, but other times he feels very plain, with flows being a bit sloppy and just not feeling quite right. Sloppy Joe and Death by MP3 are probably his best performances and are consistent tracks, too often he goes off the rails a bit on some other songs. The Sky ... read more
I’ve listened to some of RB3 years ago before listening to it in full more recently. The album sounds pretty different from anything else I’ve heard atp, so it took me a couple of tracks to really groove with it, and it was hitting pretty hard, but this albums biggest flaw is that it’s so damn repetitive. After only 2-3 tracks you know what to expect from most of the album, save the features and the outro Crucifixion, which sounds like a fucking exorcism. Prod is great and ... read more
