Okay for some context, I found out a while back some, people on this site actually make, which to me was bonkers so I just said, 'Hey! I'll check em out' (not the albums, the artists) and I find a convenient list made for it by a guy that made music, STREAM HILLS AND VALLEYS, and I stumbled across this album because the cover art looked funny to me, and started following the guy checking some of the stuff(really an 87 for Music to be Murdered By? jk lmao), and just today he asked me to review his stuff and so here I am. I was going to listen to it anyway, because I was planning to listen to a lot of these artists anyway. I don't know where I'm going with this, but the point is I want to let you all know, including Implicit Doom, that when I say the things I say about this album it is no way under the influence of 'being nice' or 'being soft' or whatever. I genuinely think this is a very solid, albeit sorta loopy instrumental project.
Starting off with what I like quite a bit, it does seem to have a great sense of variety in the instrumentation used you'll be going from the mesmerizing synths used in Get Up(which is fucking banger btw), to harsh guitar riffs used in Fortune to energetic drums used in Come Back to Me. Point is, the instrumentals in this Instrumental based album are good which is the main component essentially. Even the one song with a vocal performance, Hamburger Hill sounds good because the guy's singing is really good. I wouldn't call this album one that you would necessarily demand attentive listening, as goes with most instrumental based albums, but it is great just to leave on as you're reading a book or something.
Where some of the negatives come in however are just things of preference, and the 'loopy' sound I mentioned earlier. It may be just apart of the genre but, it kinda feels as though the tracks kinda loop near the end or in the middle to much to my liking. A Kid, and A Loaded Gun is the worst offender in my opinion, as even though it clocks in at nearly 3 minutes, the last like 15 seconds are just the middle part on loop. It might be intentional or just an error, but it's kinda annoying as I noticed it on some other tracks to, even Get Up(although not as noticeable). Some personal stuff I don't think is good is just the song Complications, as it's too simple and bare bones for me to get into without some real vocal performance.
Those are my main issues, but it still is a pretty great album not going to lie. Now, I know this might not be a direction, you want to head in but uhh, you'd make a great producer for either hip hop or rock band with this material. It might definitely resolve the 'looping' issue I had and add a better progression to the individual songs. Honestly looking forward for the future projects.
