Like my last review, this is another sub-genre or most specifically space of hip-hop I haven’t tapped into a good minute. The last underground album I’ve heard was Slayr’s bloodluxe which if you haven’t seen my score or read my review, I thought it was amazing and the best in the space I’ve heard so far. But apparently this project is a classic in the underground space and is the project that really gave Osamason the attention and fame that he has now. So i decided ... read more
It’s been weeks since this has come out so yes I know im extremely late especially for how much I glaze Quadeca on this website. Anyways, the haters are just trynna be different. Like yeah it doesn’t have that classic Quadeca buildup and atmosphere but in the grand scheme of things the production is still top tier, the lyrics are great, and it’s extremely catchy for the direction he’s going for. Amazing stuff but not a FORGONE level of a song.
The last time I checked out a cloud rap project was probably 3 or 5 months ago if i’m being honest. Since my last listen, this genre has been vastly growing on me and I just absolutely love it. It’s just so cool to see the OG underground space of Hip-Hop and how far we’ve come in production and songwriting wise since then. And if you’re even a little bit of a cloud rap fan, you have probably heard of this mixtape. And for how much praise I’ve seen this mixtape ... read more
Amazing stuff from Jane. The way she could go through song by song and making it a banger every remix effortlessly literally needs to be studied. And those final 6 or so minutes of ambience is really cool and unique especially for a DJ set. This just makes me respect her craft more than I already did. Could get pretty boring and repetitive over time though.
After releasing the final album in the trilogy created by the duo Stickerbush and heavensouls, heavensouls decided to go back to his solo work and release “westside trapped” which is also apart of a series except only created by him instead of him and Stickerbush. Now, this is also my first time listening to anything from heavensouls or Stickerbush’s solo work which I’ve been meaning to do after becoming a huge fan of what they created in their duo, “the side ... read more
I’m finally off for summer vacation so that means a way better upload schedule (maybe)!!!! I’ll try my absolute best to do a review daily until my vacation is over but thats probably not gonna happen if I’m being honest. But I will try to guarantee at least a better upload schedule than what this past year has brung.
Anyways, Vince Staples has finally dropped his new album today that I was definitely excited for after looking at the album cover and hearing the first single ... read more
I’m gonna be honest, I haven’t been the greatest lately. I’m not gonna go into details cuz I don’t want some random people to know all my problems. But I’m not here to vent, instead im here to review this amazing album from the experimental hip-hop artist Lil Ugly Mane which has become one of my favorite in the space for how much I replay his mixtape/ album “Mista Thug Isolation”. And you’re probably wondering why would I mention what I said in ... read more
‘clipping.’ Is one of those bands in the experimental hip-hop space that is basically mandatory to listen to if you wanna call yourself a fan of the space. And I didn’t know this before about the band or even before listening to the album but the lead rapper is actually the guy from Hamilton which is insane to think about since it’s only once in a blue moon you see someone in a extremely popular broadway play also be the same guy you hear making the craziest and ... read more
Listening to this album was a real toss up because on one hand I didn’t really wanna listen to it at first especially after the user score but on the other maybe I’ll end up liking it and it doesn’t hurt to just listen to it. So as you can guess, I picked the second option and as you can see by the score, I did not end up liking it but there was definitely some quality in here. The intro track “Aperture” is a really psychedelic and catchy song with the use of disco ... read more
The sampling on here is really really good and the way he makes the samples each play a different role is really cool. Does get pretty repetitive at times though but it is a really solid song. Cant believe this is the same person who made “Let It B” and if this is only a loosie then I’m excited for whats to come.
I know this review is long overdue but whatever man. The production is pretty cool but doesn’t really come close to that of “been up”. I did find the language change kinda weird but when’s the last time you’ve seen 2 guys rapping on a 2hollis type beat in Spanish? Overall, had its decent moments and it had its basic moments. Didn’t really do much for me to be honest but a cool single!
I always meant to listen to this album first instead of the third installment in the trilogy, “DARKLIGHT” but after a month after listening to that project I finally decided to check out this one which is considered their best and even mind blowing from what I heard. Now did it live up to its expectations, absolutely, might have even surpassed it. I already had listened to the first 5 so I had my expectations already but listening to those final 6 songs really added to everything ... read more
After revisiting their 2021 project “By the Time I Get to Phoenix”, something clicked for me that hasn’t for any other relisten. First listen I was extremely confused on why this was considered so good and even didn’t like it but something just clicked for me and next thing I knew I was crying when Knees came on and next thing you know I found myself bumping this album day in and day out. After 2 or so months after that I finally decided to listen to their old project ... read more
Never thought I would see the day where my goat dropped a miss but all good things come to an end.
JPEGMAFIA is that kinda artist that which every album builds on his sound greatly by adding more experimental elements and stuff from other genres like pop, rock, r&b, and more and with this album he still does that but in a way where it’s both underwhelming but extremely overwhelming. When the album was even first announced I could instantly tell something fishy was going on with (1) ... read more
THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! THATS WHY HES NUMBER ONE! THATS WHY HES THE GOAT, THE GOATTTTTTT
Thank you for the recommendation to the guy who recommended this to me! Forgot your username because this recommendation was like a billion years ago but if you’re reading this put a comment in comments and I’ll edit this review and shout you out! Now onto the review.
This album was very interesting with its blend of Afro beats with folktronica with rock and while all those mixed together sounds bad on paper, they execute the sound so well it might as well just be a whole genre. A ... read more
After hearing the absolute fire single “I AM ICEMAN” that in my personal opinion is the best song of all time i thought this album would be a perfect 10, no skips, absolute masterpiece that Kendrick fans would be begging to Kendrick to make. And I was absolutely right, Drake did it again with providing another… mid album!
Did I get you there for a second? No? ok. ICEMAN is finally here and is Drake’s first solo album since the Kendrick beef in 2024 and while I am ... read more
Now before I start this review, yes I will finally stop being lazy and check out your recommendations but it will take me time since there’s literally 30+ albums to listen to and im just one guy so yeah. As tradition once I hit my follower goal (which is 250) I will do a rec-a-thon or whatever I called it I forgot it’s been a while which is basically this thing where I give myself a certain amount of time to listen to every single thing in my recommendations. Now onto the review! I ... read more
Jane Remover is something that with each project keeps getting better and better with their sound and evolves through each one. She somehow keeps finding a way to incorporate the insane production of Revengeseekerz with all these various different genres and sounds and always makes it sound good. Status update music is no different and if I really wanted to say, it’s their best project ever since the dropped Revengeseekerz, the album that started this domino effect. The first 3 Dariacore ... read more
Sampha has been on a lot of my favorite songs from my favorite rappers such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Kanye West, and more. He has always brought this calming energy and catchy chorus to every song I heard him on so it caught my attention learning he had two solo albums out. I chose his debut album to start off with titled Process and here is a lil collection on all my thoughts while listening and looking back on this album. Sampha’s voice throughout this project was just so calming and ... read more
