As someone who often takes pride in saying post-rock is one of their favorite genres, I am very aware that it’s quite an embarrassment to never have listened to Mogwai. Still, I thought this new release (I believe their tenth studio album?) would be a good place to start.
On first listen, this felt a bit basic, but it did tick every box for what I expect of a good post-rock album. There’s some great guitar work, interesting instrumentation choices and some big crescendos.
