Firstly, this LP has it’s own successes and glaringly obvious failures - with NO need to compare to Daytona like everyone else is doing! Push comes through with ice cold bars and new flows with himself being a great highlight on the record. A more melodic sound in his vocals often works and shows a new side to his rapping - probably influenced by Pharrell. This album feels far too uninteresting to me. When Cole tries to switch up the style, or fuse elements of other sub-genres in the production, it comes across as corny, but when he sticks to his guns the music lacks excitement. What I mean by this is, in the first track the trap drum beat mixed with the soul sampling doesn’t work for me, and this is evident in many other tracks.
