While still a perfectly fine album, Holo Boy is too forgettable to match the high expectations I had coming into this project.
This was really interesting, but not the kind of bowie record I would recommend or revisit.
Although this isn't something I would put in my regular rotation, I really appreciated the ambition and orchestration, despite it failing to capture me at times. I also have to say that Nights in White Satin is a near perfect song.
This album is incredible. I haven't listened to the new one, but after listening to this I expect nothing but more great songwriting and great aesthetic choices.
I love it when one of my favorite artists introduces me to a new amazing artist
I always slept on this album because I only like one of the three big songs off this album (obviously it was Every Little Thing She Does is Magic, it is a perfect pop song). Then I listened to the full thing and found a great improvement in The Police's sonic palette, and some of Sting's most interesting lyricism.
Saw Dove Ellis open for Geese and checked this album out, really great vocals.
When the drone-y album has no buildup or any progression and the melodies are boring, i could care less about the lyrics, unrelatable as they are.
As much as I love to make fun of how corny and annoying Jeff Buckley's fanbase is, He does have an undeniable talent as a vocalist and songwriter.
I really liked the sound of this album, but there weren't enough individual songs to truly grip me into the experience. The songwriting here isn't musically attention grabbing.
