Scattle - Standalone
74

Thanks to Scattle for making real music again after all of those strange 2024 releases. This is a solid surprise even if two songs were from 2023 and 2024 respectively. 6 songs for 20 mins is way better than 9-13 songs in 10 mins. Short, concise, straight to the point.

Elyose - Évidence
75

Probably enjoyed this more than I should have. There's some great melodies here and your usual Alternative Metal riffs if you are into that. The few industrial and even the symphonic elements are nice and don't go overboard. Only questionable thing was some odd sounds towards the end of Théogyne 2.0 (I believe). Nothing bad at all.

Queensrÿche - Dedicated to Chaos
10

The worst album from the discography. One of my least favorite metal albums (from a band I like) If this band stopped at Promised Land it would be one of the best runs but they just had to keep going until this heap of garbage. One of the overall worst discographies in metal (again, from a band I like)

Lord Agheros - Anhedonia
70

I was nervous when I started this for whatever reason but this is actually really cool in my opinion. You could argue some of the softer parts in between the heavy moments last too long which I may agree with if I didn't already enjoy ambient and atmospheric music like I do. I think this does a good enough job but could definitely punch harder if it wanted to. Massive potential here that barely makes it by at its current state.

Nocturnal Avernus - Coven

This was a confusing listen. The instrumental is fine at best, which does have potential, but these vocals are so off putting and strange. Not the worst thing ever but I couldn't enjoy this. I will change this to a 0 if it's AI.

James Arthur - Bitter Sweet Love
50

I didn't completely hate this as there is definitely music much worse or music I just like less. Either way it's very typical, predictable, not too original and average pop.

Revel In Void - The Painting
47

Wasn't as bad as I was thinking but the vocals definitely don't do anything for me and they for sure don't work well together with the instrumentals. The instrumentals are just decent at most too. Felt way longer than 46-47 mins.

Boldy James - Murder During Drug Traffic
46

Quantity over quality + poor production + generic beats which turns into mediocre songs = Disappointing, underwhelming and that's unfortunate. :(

Aler Himself - Sweet Ablutions
79

Aler Himself has a great voice, flow and attitude throughout this album. I personally enjoyed the variety in beats, lyrical content including the overall theme and most importantly the way this album transitions from track to track. Made this a pleasant experience and I am hoping to see more in the future.

Airon Kitten - Metal Beast

It's AI. It's terrible. Not even going to torture myself and listen to the extended version either.

Tzompantli - Beating the Drums of Ancestral Force
85

I'll admit this isn't AMAZING but it still gave me chills so I have to give it a higher score. The indigenous elements are something I love in metal and I think they fit Death Doom perfectly.

Onision - Forbidden Frequencies
0

Even if it's better than his other releases you have to realize all that garbage is in the negatives anyway so this is still getting a 0. I genuinely don't understand this guy. Probably uses AI for all of his music now too.

結束バンド [kessoku band] - Re:結束バンド [Re:Kessoku Band]
65

I don't watch anime or listen to this genre of music ever but this wasn't bad at all. I'm neutral on the vocals but the basslines, guitar riffs, solos and the drumming are decent enough for me to appreciate.

Pat Reedy - Make It Back Home
85

I'm not the biggest Country guy, especially the modern pop stuff, but something about the older/traditional/alternative stuff has its charm and this album shows that. Pat has a great voice and creates a feel good atmosphere that makes you feel like you're on a road trip and exploring new things. Best Country album of 2024 for me.

Traveler - Prequel To Madness
92

I actually really like these vocals so it immediately gets a high score with the amazing instrumentals. They nailed the "galloping" riffs I love in Traditional Heavy Metal. The music has a grand and epic atmosphere that is hard not to love. Rock on.

Texas Toast Chainsaw Massacre - Super Turbo
80

Fun Crossover Thrash that is comical and does parody well without going too over the top. Easy 30 minute listen that should give you a laugh or two at the very least.

Tinashe - Quantum Baby
66

Perfectly fine "album" from Tinashe. I enjoy her style of R&B personally but I absolutely can not stand "Nasty". Never liked that one even before it got played constantly. Unfortunately drops the score by a bit.

Luke De-Sciscio - Theo
84

Thank you for recommending me your album, Luke. This is raw and emotional to the core. You have a great voice and create an extraordinary atmosphere. I appreciated your lyrics and overall theme about your daughter. I am more than satisfied with the outcome of this project and I will be waiting for more.

I remember the day this came out. I ignored it immediately because of the album cover like most people did. This continued to gain positive ratings and then I proceeded to look at the album length and passed on it once more. I have finally listened to this today and have to say this is pleasantly surprising and admittedly good. I may not completely understand the message but the music is extremely well done. So many elements at play that give this so much variety and allow it to be a more than ... read more

Nightmare - Encrypted
63

I think this sounds fine but it could also be so much better. The mix on all the instruments is so low when it's compared to the vocals. The vocals themselves have something good there but are mostly underwhelming especially the screams. The bass sounds pretty much perfect in my opinion and I only wish everything else sounded as good as that. Lost potential here.
