this was the album that made imagine dragons hated so much.
i still remember when thunder came out. all of my friends couldn't stand the sound of it. the only reason why i know about this album's existence is because my parents are really big fans of this band and used to play their CDs in the car whenever we would go somewhere. i was a kid, of course i enjoyed this music, and i recognize a lot of these songs on here. revisiting them today, they're not that bad, and they make me pretty nostalgic for my 2017 days.
while the songs on here aren't necessarily terrible, a lot of them seem overblown and filled with garbage that's "radio friendly." looking back on these songs, i wish that the band would go more into their emotions rather than just putting these unnecessary and filler sounds just to seem like a pop band that's pretending to be in the rock genre.
overall, could evolve be better? yes, every record can be better in some way, but is the hate for this record really justified? probably, sometimes i just think that this band is receiving all of these negative reviews just because "OOOO WE HATE IMAGINE DRAGONS AND DONT REALLY LOOK INTO THEIR OTHER MUSIC" but thats just my opinion.
