After a puzzling start, the song tries to channel the energy the band is known for, and kinda succeeds at that. Still, it's rough around the edges, and reminiscent of the downsides of WOTP-era Muse. I hope it's a step in the right direction.
Altough short, there's undeniable energy in this track, and I really love the instrumental side. Can't wait to see what they have in store for this new album.
Wasn't expecting to like this more than Wall of Eyes but there we are.
Sure, there is no Bending Hectic here. But these 'cutouts' make for an eclectic journey through a myriad of sounds that, at times, reminds of Thom's ethereal solo work (Tiptoe), typical The Smile (Colours Fly) or something beyond (Zero Sum, Bodies Laughing).
Special mention to Instant Psalm, which while it's not the album's best track, reminds me of a 1990s Radiohead unreleased deep cut that ... read more
Kino at it's greatest. An astounding collection of songs.
Never thought I'd enjoy hearing someone telling me to do it
Damn, I expected it to be good but not THAT good. Mica and Matt outdid themselves with this behomoth of synthpop, filled with bangers and creativity. The production is outstanding, everything feels so well crafted and layered. There's intensity, and softness going back and forth all the way through. I did appreciate the last songs a bit less than the rest of the record, but they were still really good.
If that's not AOTY, I don't see what is.
Think hey couldve pushed the concept further, similarly to the singles, as it got a bit repetitive in some parts. A solid record nonetheless.
While overshadowed by its predecessors, it's still a pretty damn solid record on its own
There are mainly 2 things wrong with this album : the fact that Last Friday Night exists, and the fact that it's more than 5 minutes long, making it the longest song on this project. Drops the rating from like 70 to this.
Muse's most overhated album. Messy, diverse, uneven, but filled with some good to great songs, including some of the band's all time best such as Animals, Supremacy or Panic Station.
Coldplay goes for a basic formula there, which is already enough to make a much better song than most of MOTS
Sure, it's no Souvlaki, but it doesn't make this album any less of a sweet and melancholic experience, crafting a beautiful atmosphere all the way through.
I'm just glad Slowdive are still out there putting together nice music in 2023, hope they keep going !
