A smooth, memorable and standout release for Peach Pit, filled with psychedelic and dream guitarwork and vocals. This marks their first hints of a shift to indie folk influences (seen more prominently on Magpie), with acoustic songs such as Look Out displaying how Smith's vocals melt perfectly with a more rustic sound. The atmosphere of this incredible release is of a night filled with a deep sorrowful insomnia. The band's greatest album yet and a perfect album for staying up ... read more
Sam Fender provides a nostalgic track list filled with melancholy and self-reflection. The deluxe edition massively improves on the original narrative, giving the album a truly full range; from hopeful and active like the title track, to a sharp, piercing self understanding like Fortuna's Wheel. With a small dip in interest near the end of the original track list, I found the rest of the deluxe to bring me fully back into the album and more.

The beautiful, haunting songwriting along with gorgeous instrumentals throughout this work give a sense of yearning for what was paired with an emotional turmoil that only Mitski can perfectly capture. Her best album yet, and a front to back consistent listen where each song maintains its identity.

Zach Bryan's strongest record yet, With Heaven On Top starts off with a introspective poem, the best one of his four album run, and continuing into Runny Eggs, a simple but beautiful song about learning to come to terms with yourself--a recurring theme throughout the album. 25 songs, longer than his previous two but not overwhelming like his first, wind through narratives about guilt, hometown friends, yearning, loss and self reflection, with stellar songwriting throughout. A solid release from Peach Pit, they fully display their indie-rock sound with dreamy guitars and jammin' melodies. The album is a continuous experience, starting with quick and exegetic grooves while spiraling down into a devastating sequence of songs about a broken, drained, rejected narrator. Also known as the average college party experience. Smith's vocals fit the dreamy, psychedelic theme perfectly.

Noah's second album, it falls short of the previous and fades out of memory to his colossal Stick Season. Filled with generic folk pop rhythms and instrumentation. While his songwriting still shines here, it is the only thing keeping this work away from being any other album of this genre. Howling and Godlight, however, are genuinely great songs which do not fit with the rest of the album's tracks. Wouldn't be surprised to hear this in a Burger joint in some hip city.
