I'd say this is some pretty solid (blackened) deathcore with thall influences. But for me something feels missing. It has groovy parts but they don't wanna shake me booty ya know? If this had the same energy some of Harklas grooves on their 2023 album had, this would be an instant classic. But for this it remains as an average yet pretty solid execution.
Also I gotta say, Track 8 felt much more of a closer than track 9 did to me.
Favourite Track. From the Depths of Hell
Duél is aggressive yet beautiful and lots of fun. It's not something that blows your socks off but it can surely survive in some daily rotations. It doesn't offer the greatest variety but enough to be relistenable and even enjoyable for multiple listens.
Not great, but good.
Favourite Track: Green Serpent
Sounds like the final Undertale chapter but on crack. You could also call it "1:14 That piano 🔥 - the black metal album". And as an extra for your Sleep Paralysis journey you get a free chiptune experience. But holy shit does it deliver!
This self titled album has got to be one of the craziest albums I've ever listened to. It has great momentum, great ideas that are executed more great than bad and some really interesting structures that make it worth coming back to this ... read more
Hypersonic Super-Astrid is such a banger, sadly its momentum can't be maintained. Track 6-8 really felt like on big pause which wasn't needed. The album offers some great variety but for me it doesn't really click. Maybe I am too much influenced by the second track that puts all others in its shadow. Hard to describe lol.
Nevertheless it's a good album! I really love the singer, she's got a great voice!
Favourite Track: Hypersonic Super-Asterid
Track 5, 11 and 12 are pretty solid, the rest sadly completely falls out of line. I enjoy the heavier side of Eidola more than their softer and poppier side but on this album especially it just sounds awful and cringe (the lyrics are reaaaaally bad imo). And I don't know whose decision it was to mix the vocals with these layers - but gosh it sounds awful AND EVEN SO WEIRD AND BAD IT SOUNDS AI-ESQUE (i know they don't use AI, but it just sounds like it, ew.)
Eidola should really ... read more
Make one song. Have a full album. This album is boring af. Don't get me wrong, all of the songs would be great as singles. But listening to 12 songs that barely change at all it's hard to keep attention. The song could have used some more songs that have drive and make fun. Otherwise it's well.. boring, as already said.
Favourite Track: Pit of Guilt
The album has some pretty cool ideas but sadly lacks quality in execution. Overall it just feels boring. It's just a mix and mash of djenty patterns with mixed vocals that imo feel a bit off - well some of the cleans are a bit off-key, but that's not what I meant. They just feel like they weren't mixed well.
I love the trumpet on this album and the band should try more with it than just being a part of the atmosphere. But everything else feels sort of soulless and overplayed. ... read more
7 Songs for Spiders? Well little Herbert was vibing in the corner of my bedroom ceiling for sure.
The album has such a warm and comforting sound. It's like one of those hugs after one hard and emotional day. I'm not a big fan of Davids high vocals which kind of stand out though mixed relatively quiet into the instrumentals.
Favourite Track: Sunshine Felt The Darkness Smile

If you love heavy guitars with grooves to shake your booty to, this is what you're looking for.
When I discovered this album in 2023, I wasn't sure where this was going since I found the opening 3 minutes kind of weak but then Harkla raised the curtains and I wanted to give it a try. The Living Mountain is full of sick grooves combined with deep chugging guitars that love to change momentum but keep staying or getting even heavier.
I am not a big fan ... read more

Der Weg einer Freiheit was one of the first black metal bands I discovered while trying to broaden my taste of (metal) music. Something about their songwriting and unique mixing stuck with me. They manage to create an amazing atmosphere in this album that dives deep into your body and fills you out with so many emotions.
Noktvrn is an amazing example of haunting yet beautiful soundscapes that you want to hear over and over and over again. The album gives you ... read more

Gosh I had so much fun with this EP in summer '24. It's aggressive, it's fast, it's unforgiving, it's SPELLLCRAAAAFT.
But seriously, try watering your plants to this EP and you'll turn your living room into a jungle forest. (don't recommend listening to it on many repeats lol)

Discovering WDL through the trailer of the video game STEEP with their single "Monster vs. Angel" as a teenager, this album has accompanied me through various phases of my life.
It has so many different vibes - which in my opinion covers more negative than positive aspects but they always manage to keep my attention with so many unique elements. There is a lot to discover listening to this album, so give this one a spin!

I am lost for words here. It has been some time since I had that many goosebumps over a period of 50 minutes. First time listening to Estella kept me at the edge of crying. The whole album is so beautifully written with all its little surprises, the rich and warm piano, guitars, strings, sax, sometimes even the harp.
You feel cozy, it's like sitting again with a friend, knowing you won't see him ever again. It's an everlasting goodbye. All you have left are stories, little ... read more

The Butcher Sisters delivered with this album - well if I'm not mistaken there are only 2 new songs on this 14 track album, which is kinda sad since I expected some more new stuff on it. Regardless, it's great! There are so many fun parts in it which keep you questioning if you are stuck between a rave and a metal concert. The lyrics are stupid as in funny stupid with some rhymes that kept my head shaking while having a good ... read more
I really want to like it, there are some really crazy moments in there that are amazing. But sadly this album contains not just one but at least 6 AI parts. And it's a big shame the album is getting promoted on a channel with over 400k subscribers...
I liked the song, yet I can't give this a high rating - feels like the tekkno formular all over again (got a huge we got the moves feeling) - but there are some nice funny snippets I found really funny
Also, wtf is Uke doing there? Man's on some serious sidequests lmao
YOOO LATE TO THE PARTY (am I?)
Lemme tell you, the first two songs were incredible! I kinda got the feeling of playing Deus Ex (2000) during the 2nd song lol. Insane vibe! Sadly, in my opinion, Drums of Death didn't really fit in to the first five tracks. For me, it felt like a break that wasn't needed yet. It would have felt better after Room Of Fools or after Sticky. Speaking of... The last 90 Seconds of Sticky were freaking insane!!
I really enjoyed the dsicotheque-esque parts, ... read more
Ngl, Track 4 got me Hooked lol - sadly it wasn't good. The album started quite well but then decreased in quality sort of drastically. There are some shining moments here and there inbetween (Night or Day all the way) and the last song has a cool groove but overall the album couldn't get my full attention during multiple listens. It just feels bland in general and doesn't have anything really special to offer.
Some songs are really worth listening too more often, but the album ... read more
There are some very beautiful surprises in here, some tears came up during The Worst Way to Start an End - that part at 1:20 was unexpected holy shit. Here and there the album feels a bit shallow but overall this album marks a great start to 2025. It doesn't need your full attention - and I get the feeling that the album doesn't even want to try and catch you on every second. It's just a really nice vibe and you should definitely give this one a spin!

You ever get the feeling, you feel a little too comfortable in your own four walls and just don't want to go out? This is what this album feels like. It's not bad, it's just... boring, not even trying to go a bit out of its own bounds it set in the first song. Yet it kind of wants to be epic but completely misses crucial moments like mdm-solos, epic energetic breakouts (except in The Burning Point) and a better mix. Everything just feels washed out and not worth returning to ... read more
