August Burns Red - Season of Surrender
88

Best ABR album since Phantom Anthem. The consistency this band has shown overtime is incredible.

OBEYER - Pallor
90

This has been one of my favorite releases this year. The EPs this year have been awesome so far.

Hard hitting drums. Riff city. Great screams/vocals. It's all here in this great drop from Obeyer. Cant wait for their next LP.

Wage War - IT CALLS ME BY NAME
81

Better than Stigma in every way. If I had any gripe I just don't care much for the low groggy talking sections. This goes hard though. Solid EP.

Midwinter - A Love I Hope Will Haunt Me Forever
85

I was happy I didn't listen to the singles much when they were released, so first playthrough of the album was pretty fresh. The four new songs were great. One of which was an interlude that bleeds into Hourglass. I would put this album a tier or two above your average metalcore. Great Choruses, great riffs, beautiful melodies throughout. Definitely a contender to make my AOTY top 10 for 2026.

Our Mirage - Fractured Minds
47

Starts strong then just kind of fades and blends together. The vocalist is awesome though.

Gaerea - Loss
68

Love the atmosphere in this. Big sound. The album starts off great, but it just feels like it never really goes much further beyond that. Good listen and would still recommend.

LEVELS - This Will Make You Feel Again
75

This is my first full play through of a LEVELS album.

I like the infused electronic sound. It works well here. First two tracks sent me through a brick wall. Front half of the album is loaded. Vocals are great both cleans and screams. Back half of the album fades for me a bit, but I love the closer "The Grave".

Overall solid album. Would definitely recommend a spin.

Bilmuri - KINDA HARD
60

On the surface it is a fun album. The whole country "twang" is fun, but it really doesn't go any further than that for me.

Fallujah - Xenotaph
89

Just incredible guitar work. Atmospheric and technical. This was album was #3 in my 2025 aoty rankings.

Iridium - HELL IS JUST A HALFWAY HOUSE
74

Was blown away with the production quality especially for what seems to be a first LP? Some songs had me stink facing for sure, and vocals are really good. I enjoyed this one!

"We shall watch your career with great interest."

Shoreline - Is This The Low Point Or The Moment After?
55

I will be an outlier on this one, but not really my taste when it comes to pop punk.

ERRA - ERRA
93

Hang this album in the metalcore hall of fame. Riffs for days. Catchy powerful choruses, along side heaviness that makes you want to body slam baby seals. I recommend this album for anyone that likes metal in general. Such a staple album for me.

Also I want to give House of Glass its flowers because I think it was the most underrated song on the album. The song is riff city, and the one at 2:54 blows my brains out every time.

My personal track ranking:

5. Shadow Autonomous
9. Vanish ... read more

ERRA - CURE
84

I feel this one had to grow on me a bit before I fully appreciated it. My first couple listens of CURE I probably had it towards the bottom of their discography. Fast forward to now I have certainly spun this album dozens of times, and it has absolutely grown on me. I can totally appreciate CURE for what it is. Just trading less riffs for more chugs and low tone. It definitely holds its own place in their discography.

My personal track ranking:

12. Wave
4. Blue Reverie
5. Slow Sour Bleed

Sylosis - The New Flesh
68

Solid album. Some great riffs and songwriting. Just doesn't really stick with me for whatever reason.

ERRA - silence outlives the earth
90

E7 silence outlives the earth is one you really need to sit down and listen to the album front to back. Such a fine tuned back to form for ERRA. Heavy, riffs, melodies, and more. As someone who loves ERRA I really enjoyed this one, and is in heavy rotation.

My personal song ranking :

8. spiral (of liminal infinity)
1. stelliform
9. i the many names of god
7. lucid threshold
6. echo sonata
4. black cloud
3. gore of being
11. iii twilight in the reflection of dreams
2. further eden

Lamb of God - Into Oblivion
82

LOG is back. I’ll be honest I have not listened to LOG regularly since Resolution. I didn’t really expect much from this album, but man it delivered. A fun listen, and one that old fans and new fans should love.

Stand out tracks:
Into Oblivion
The Killing Floor
Bully
Devise/Destroy

Above, Below - I Guess It Was Nowhere
87

What an awesome surprise this album was for me! Will most likely be in the top 10 for me for 2026. A must listen for any fan of the genre.
