Birth of a New Day was one of my first experiences with ambient music and definitely my first ever with the cyberpunk and dreampunk genres. Brockhampton's best effort yet. Kinda hated it at first when it dropped but it grew on me a lot since 2018. Actually the exact day I really enjoyed listening to it from front to back for the first time got embedded in my mind: it was a foggy monday morning and the weather fit perfectly with the London influence this record transpires. One of my favorite albums of all time. 25 minutes of strange but still nostalgic, beautiful beats with Earl's deep voice and wobbly flows layered. It is a very "compressed" record in that all the songs transition in a very fast way and there's no unnecessary material. Earl's bars about mental health and drug abuse lead to emotional one liners that cause goosebumps. The 25 minute run time is perfect as it makes the record addicting to listen to.
