This has to be classified as blackgaze or doomgaze cause that’s what I’m getting outta of this. You would assume that this project is just like every other atmospheric black metal project at first, but the more you listen, the more it feels like it shouldn’t be classified as that lmfao. This project is just different, the progression is and the consistency definitely is. First things first is the production which I can easily talk about because it is just that consistent yet ... read more
CLASSIC REVIEW 16#: Pharoah Sanders does it once again with this progressive spiritual jazz classic. There is so much diversity just like black unity had. This project was definitely more visceral and alive but by a slim margin and it gets the classic notion so ofc imma say the biased thing that it’s better but you can say black unity is better all you want your welcome to, if anything I think they are BOTH just as good as each other. The drums, bass, synths, saxophone, tambourine, ... read more
CLASSIC REVIEW 15#: The production and vocals absolutely snapped need I say more, I absolutely love the dynamic and the mix of the drums, synths, samples, some bass, etc that are entirely within all of these tracks and overall this project is definitive hip hop classic. The flow of the vocals are just as consistent and the lyrics capturing the narrative or the display of their experiences in the hood. They capture it all using this style of production and vocals as well as just picturing what ... read more
This is the typa shit that I would imagine making back then when I was little but tenfold, I would still never be capable of making such an album like this because of its absolute visceral abilities and atmosphere plus creative/innovative ideas. The sampling is clean and the mix of the electronics/drums, at times guitars, synthesizers, and you name it, all in this project really do whatever and crate something special, especially some of the vocals that match the energy, even those flows. The ... read more
Peggy is back at it again. So as we all know probably by now, jpeg is one of the greatest to ever do it, and Ik that’s dick riding and glazing but I mostly mean music wise. Sadly as a person he has grown, well, quite deranged lmfao. I don’t think I have ever really supported him much as a person because he was political which he fixed I ASSUME and he had random beef with Freddie Gibbs which is another artist I really like, not to say that Peggy is a bad person or anything but ... read more
The new BoC situation is absurd, is this one of the greatest releases of the year? So some new BoC just dropped and U KNOW I’m listening to that shit. This album was quite the different direction than their older albums and I can obviously see that, they literally haven’t made another album in 13 years before this so this was fucking rare basically, worth the wait I might add. The production was just absolutely stellar with the synths/synthesizers crating cinematic atmospheres and ... read more
Very sinister as their music always is, this was definitely their most sinister by far. The Portishead discography is officially complete and their whole discography has been insanely consistent just how this project was. The production I mentioned earlier being consistent with the sinister vibe and the situation that the album displays. We get these smooth drums, synthesizers or synths, piano, mixing and sampling/etc that all aligns really well with the vocals which capture the narrative of an ... read more
More christtt to listen to, shouldn’t Christ be saying that lives matter instead of he complete opposite, jokes aside this cover and the genres struck me because I haven’t listened to Eccojams in a hot minute so I decided why not give it another shot. This record really showcased the unique sound of Eccojams with its repetitions of samples from deep vocals, or just normal vocals, drums, electronics, synths and etc that all make up for the samples, the sampling itself is masterful ... read more
Defines experimental as expected, I saw the cover and immediately knew what I was up for. When I tell that this may also just define every other genre on this list like sound collage and plunderphonics I mean it because man was this one hell of a fucking ride. The progression of the orchestra, the drums, guitars, synths, and etc that also all make up for the orchestral bits. We also got these random samples ofc, we also have some random bursts of noise and production per usual. Overall this ... read more
First project I have heard of from this man, I was gonna do lunatic harness but this was spun on the wheel. I really do wish lunatic harness was picked because that album would seem to be better I suppose. This record was not bad to say the least but overall just very on and off, although what really saves it is its dynamic and unique sound overall. The production of the mix of drums that make this record sound a little drill and bass-y, complex electronics, cinematic synthesizers, and etc. ... read more
What a more fitting way to listen to an album on the beach or to be on the balcony watching the view. This record really does stick to that particular vibe and stays consistent with its sound all the way through. It really matches the atmosphere of the cover and where I am, I specifically listened to this album only when we got to the beach and saved it for that occasion and it was worth the listen as you can tell. The constant consistency of the 808s, drums/shakers/tambourine, ... read more
I don’t think seeking darkness is what we were looking for or seeking for. We were seeking the heavens, we were seeking something beyond the bounds of reality as it is shown on the progression of all parts of this album. Similar to the structuring of Boris feedbacker and flood, this progression is different in each track with endless possibilities of brass instrumentals, mix of guitars and drums, noise and ambience forming the sound, and etc. There is so much to unpack on this record and ... read more
Best stoner rap and cloud rap album, this is legit the cloud rap album of all time. I have never heard something this psychedelic and something that can mix with hip hop production like this so well. I only heard of two tracks from this project before listening to it, actavis and 80 dime bagz, I thought initially that I wouldn’t be too crazy about this album, well now we’re here. This record is built on mega consistency and that mostly forms around the cloud rap production and ... read more
Perfect, absolutely, there is no other album like this and it’s ambient. This album is life in a nutshell. It displays and captures the visceral and yet calm/relaxing and soothing/beautiful atmosphere/soundscape. The production of the ambience and the ambience alone, it’s all we really need and like Lindsheaven plaza said, “if you’re looking for short music that is good, you’re looking for ambient. Surrealism is Absurdism” I quoted this too in Xiexie, I could ... read more
The best recollection of the Wii, this album did it perfectly, never did I ever think that an album would do it like that and when I found out it was the same guy who made White Death I wasn’t that surprised, because he’s the goat atp, christtt himself, which I need to get more into his other stuff like No Lives Matter and that other one that I forgot with the furry in the middle of the cover or maybe that’s a different person. Anyways this record easily recollects old ... read more
A devastating past sound that collects all those memories I had and puts them into this sad recollection collage throughout. The production is really what holds so much. The mix of the synths or synthesizers and the mix of the electronics. It has some static background noises in some tracks but some tracks give us this more ambient feel. Sometimes this album can be devastating and at times eerie, and it’s also mostly because of those piano samples, that the trick that always carries most ... read more
We got another really good mix of static/broadcast recordings and sample mixes/production. This one is another short soundscape or atmosphere that captures the full extent of winter through the sound of mystical ambience too. The ambience is really what sells the album the most for its absolutely beautiful and delightful sound. Overall it brings what I said earlier, an absolute mythical experience, 97/100.
Best sound collage album of all time. The mix of the broken transmission AND death industrial/noise is just stellar too, it is all done phenomenally. The project captures such a massively visceral amount of energy and it really puts you through a lot, at first I thought this was a coma patient because of the constant array of samples, recordings, chaotic production and etc but nope, the artist of this project stated that it expressed conscious and lots of different other things that I done ... read more
One of the best albums I’ve listened to, it was top 5 for a short amount of time and only because of its extreme diversity, liminal uniqueness and odd accessible. It really just has all that you could really be in for in an album with a cover like that. The mix of the electronics, mostly ambience, and variety of instrumentals. All of the features is artists that I know too, dreamcorp being new to me, not that I didn’t hear of him existing but of his music, all of the features popped ... read more
A more wide range of illbient and atmospheric drum and bass on this album. The mix of the drums/shakers or often times just the drums and bass that has these repetitions along with the electronics is excellent when it also comes to the ambience, the brass instrumentals also keep this consistent sound company. It’s a very unique sound that I haven’t really heard much of before for its diversity throughout the record. This album is another great example of mixing ambient with hip hop ... read more
