Incredibly beautiful, they made the right decision putting this on the Summvs reissue because this song is just perfect.

And finally the virus series ends on a very high note, resulting in the best album these two ever made together. Every song on this album is at least very good, and incredible at best. From the uncanny yet soothing atmosphere of Reverso, glitchy bangers like Pionier IOO and By this river, the progressive and powerful Naono, and not to mention the flawless masterpiece that is Halo, aka my favorite song in the whole virus series. This album is just bangers front to back, and if this version ... read more

While this is definitely the most unique album in the virus series, I honestly think it’s a big step down from their last 3 albums. While adding an orchestra to their signature glitchy minimalist style is a great idea, I feel like the orchestra isn’t used to its full potential. While tracks like Broken line and Plateaux incorporate the orchestra very well, other pieces like Attack and the two Particle tracks feel a bit underdeveloped, with the latter two being essentially ... read more

Extremely underrated, definitely some of the best stuff these two ever made together. Siisx and Mur are genuinely incredible songs and easily two of the best songs in the Virus series, Ax Mr. L is great too but it’s not nearly as good as the two tracks that preceded it. But overall this Ep is awesome and really deserves more attention.

Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto - Insen

Similar to Vrioon but with more of an emphasis on melody and structure. There are some downright gorgeous songs here, specifically Aurora and the two Moon tracks. Overall I think this album does a great job at improving everything that made Vrioon so good, with really my only complaint being that Avaol makes for a very unsatisfying ending.

Really pretty album, one of my favorites to listen to while working/studying. The mix between the minimal piano pieces and glitchy production is really cool and unique. My favorite tracks are definitely Uoon I, Noon, and Trioon I.

The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2

I see why so many people consider this to be one of the greatest break up albums of all time, because this album is freaking awesome! One issue I’ve had with most folk/singer songwriter albums is that barely any of the tracks stand out on an instrumental standpoint. But this album completely broke my expectations the first time I listened to it by adding elements of noise rock, ambient, and even metal. It also has some really raw and emotional vocal performances, something I’ve ... read more

Simply unbelievable in every sense of the word.

Oh my gosh, where do I even start. This is EASILY one of the most fun albums of all time, there are so many styles and moods being explored here it’s insane. From the psychedelic and dreamy atmosphere of songs like Mic check and Clash, to insanely catchy hard rock bangers like New music machine, Count five or six, and Free fall, to flawless masterpieces like Star fruits surf rider, God only knows, and Thank you for the music. I honestly ... read more

Extremely hypnotising and beautiful, it’s an album that can both be enjoyed when put in the background and while listening in depth. I always love albums that do that, some of the most memorable and unique stuff out there.

Robert Rich - Somnium

Sure, it’s relaxing but I honestly don’t see the point of listening to this aside from using it as a sleep aid. The first 40 minutes of the first song are really cool and atmospheric, but almost nothing happens after that point. I seriously don’t understand why some people consider this to be one of the greatest ambient albums of all time, I mean it’s good but it’s not THAT good

All that being said it’s still relaxing so it gets a good rating from me.

李剑鸿 [Li Jianhong] - 三生石 [San Sheng Shi]

Easily the best noise album I’ve heard as of this review, it’s powerful but not overbearing, loud but not obnoxious, all of which are qualities that I’ve been wanting to see more of in noise music. Just a devastatingly beautiful listen all around and an album that I think every noise enjoyer should listen to at least once.

Ground-Zero - Last Concert

An incredible final show that more or less showcases everything that made Ground-Zero such a special and unique band.

The album starts with Multi-Gravity 1, a very strange and psychedelic sound collage piece that almost acts as a sort of clam before the storm, not that this song is necessarily calming but compared to what comes after it might as well be. I think this piece does a pretty good job at portraying the sound collage/sampling side of Ground-Zero even if it is easily my least favorite ... read more

Ground-Zero - Consume Red

AHHHH!!! THE HORROR!!!

Consume Red by Ground-Zero is easily one of most terrifying and anxiety inducing listening experiences I’ve ever had. The album mainly consists of a hojok repeating one short riff for the majority of the piece with more and more sounds getting piled on overtime, jabs of harsh noise and some sort of plucked Korean folk instrument appear in the first half not to break up the repetitiveness, but to simply add to the chaos and uncertainty. Eventually the track breaks ... read more

Ground-Zero - "Plays Standards"

Now this is what every covers album should be, keeping the songs recognisable while also experimenting and morphing them into something new. This is easily Ground-Zero’s catchiest album with some absolutely incredible and fun tunes such as the extremely catchy and joyful El derecho, the incredibly haunting and atmospheric Ultra Q, and absolutely insane pieces like Those were the days and bones. The two best songs though are definitely Miagetegoran and I say a little prayer, which are some ... read more

Ground-Zero - 革命京劇 Ver.1.28 [Revolutionary Pekinese Opera Ver.1.28]

What the heck did I just listen to? This has to be one of the most confusing and bizarre albums I’ve ever heard, while also being one of the most engaging and fun listening experiences I’ve had in a while. While every song is great and serves its purpose on the album, the biggest highlight for me is definitely Paraiso-1, I love how it starts out really dreamy and beautiful before morphing into an incredibly brutal and intense noise track.

The Cure - Disintegration

Shout out to my mom for recommending this to me, this is some of the best music I’ve heard from the 80s, I could totally see this growing on me in the future but as of now I think it’s pretty great.
