Two years after their debut self-titled EP, Excess Blood is back with a hauntingly fresh 4-track release. It's a 10-minute graveyard mosh that feels foggy, morbid, and haunting, while at the same time feeling exhilarating and fun instrumentally. The vocal delivery is a standout, drawing strong echoes of goth rock mainstays like Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
So far, this is the best goth rock project of 2026. These guys definitely deserve a listen.
this entire album sounds like a spec promo for an amazon prime YA drama series... it's completely inoffensive sync music.
if 'new era' didn't include that shitty outro he'd have one decent song on the album.

this EP is an auditory show and tell project. north's ears are just beginning to sprout. in about 11 minutes we're given a glimpse into what she's becoming influenced by. new sights, sounds, aesthetics, and experiences. it's all there, and it is all communicated in a way that feels very emotionally authentic. which should resonate well with the gen alpha demographic. lyrically north is expressing her frustrations and satisfactions within aspects of her life as a celebrity. ... read more
