i hope that when i hit my 50s, i'll be on the same shit dan bejar is on right now
aside from the evidently grating chorus, which sounds like one of those AI generated videos of pets talking, i also feel like marina's songwriting just hasn't matured or improved at all over the years. the naivety and blunt lyricism expressed on the family jewels and electraheart were some of the most charming aspects of those projects, but hearing the same sort of songwriting on a track released by an almost 40-year-old marina just comes off as immature and corny, for lack of a ... read more
the updated mix on this absolutely saves it lol it sounds so fucking good, brings out all the nuances in the instrumental and the synths and bass shine so hard – i really don't understand why this isn't just the base mix of the single.
EDIT: the acoustic version tied to this release is also really, really good. love it!
i can't help but feel the tracklist becomes a bit unfocused and repetitive at times, but it also undeniably has some of the greatest tracks of the year. love the sonic experimentation on this a lot
i can't get over how similar this sounds to ariana grande's 'we can't be friends,' a track who's production and overall execution i prefer much more, but this is still so damn catchy and easy to listen to.
definitely disappointed in how much more uninteresting the structure and instrumental of this is compared to the vast majority of tracks from the trilogy so far though, just too half-baked for my liking.
honestly i was pleasantly surprised; i was actually able to vibe along with this quite a bit. it's nice seeing posty have fun within this genre, even if i don't care for most of the tracks. they're mostly just relatively inoffensive, though sometimes way too cringe for my liking. wish he leaned more into that sweet combination of pop and country like in 'i had some help' and 'what don't belong to me' – definitely my 2 favourite tracks on here.
bro just had to sneak another anti-semitic bar on one of the most hyped songs off this. barely having ty on this and only touching the surface of his brother's incarceration AT THE END OF THE ALBUM makes the whole thing feel performative. bunch of half-assed unfinished songs that feel more like concepts rather than coherent music, so many instrumentals just clash with themselves and don't work at all. more tolerable to listen all the way through than vultures 1 but it's still ... read more
remi wolf's debut album is one i have so many fond memories of – it's far from perfect, but it's honestly one of my favourite albums ever. so naturally, i was really looking forward to this project, and i'm happy to say i love it !
i love the new sound she went for, it's honestly so refreshing; i absolutely love the usage of bells, whistles and the like, and she's still experimenting with cool genre combinations and unique instrumentation, which for the ... read more
glad posty's having fun with the genre switch-up but yeah this is just so empty and painfully generic – not much of value to find in this. i had some help was leaaagues better
edit: 40 --> 25 this is repulsive
edit 2: 25 --> 60 fuck it dude i feel it
don toliver gives us 2 rock-infused bangers at the beginning and then drops the entire "hardstone psycho" aesthetic for the most run-of-the-mill uninspired tunes he could be making right now. another dud.
'glock' is a highlight tho that track is so funny in the best way possible i love it
i love the first half of this record for the most part, but christ does it take such a huge nosedive after 'the craving.'
it does hold some beautiful sentiments, but it's presented in such a corny and half-assed way that i really could not give a fuck for the most part.
when i first heard the snippet of this before it's release, i was pretty disappointed. i thought posty was going in quite a generic country direction without much personal flair to it. when the song actually released and i was finally able to listen to the whole thing, i was kinda shocked at how good it actually is – it really does feel like country pop done the right way.
everything from the fittingly clean production (which is miles better than many of the overblown instrumentals on ... read more
listened to this while editing pictures so i wasn't devoting my full attention to it, has some great moments and has some quite bad moments. just okay overall
wasn't too enamoured by the first 2 singles, but god this one hits so hard emotionally – love this
