Best of the singles so far, I like the driving kick and the acoustic piano that the song is built off of. It now seems with all these singles, porter is going to try to sing his own songs throughout most this album. While his singing isn't bad, its not the best either. As I can't help to compare this to Worlds, I've noticed that some of the vocal performances on worlds (although they are meant to take back seat to the production) still give those older songs the emotional feel that make them ... read more
Better than Get Your Wish for sure. The pre choral beat drop is the best part of the song and the melody is superior to the first single. Vocals are more properly mixed on this one and the song is overall more memorable.
As the first single I know its suppose to be catchy and generally not as creative as the other album cuts will be.(hopefully)
I like the chorus but as this is notably compared to sad machine, its nowhere near as infectious and ear pleasing.
Still good production, vocals mixed lower than Id probably like them to be but still glad porter is back.
can't wait for his project.
This is definitely underwhelming, as I was a huge fan of Worlds and considered it to be one of the best electronic albums of the 2010's. Mirror is not bad by any means but I just expected more than how predictable this and the other singles were. He's still a great producer but doesn't seem to be in as creative head space as worlds was, where you couldn't predict where the track was going sonically / structurally.
I do understand that these are 'singles' and are meant to be catchier and more ... read more
last thing I expected from twenty one pilots! And he really made it his own and it still fits in with every other Christmas song. I enjoyed it for a few listens as its not a return song and perhaps that was intentional it being a once a year time of song. Great job to the boys on this one.
a nice follow up lead single to "you were good to me". Although it takes the back seat to the first effort, this one shows they still got it.
I have found this collaboration very enjoyable. The simplicity of the instrumentals and intimacy play heavily in these two songwriter's favor. While I only knew of Jeremy Zucker before this release I'm pleasantly surprised by Chelsea Culters additive vocals that bounce off nicely with Zucker's lower tone. Both are not immaculate singers but they get the feeling just right to tug at your heartstrings.
My favorite tracks, ironically, are most likely the two solo tracks by each artist on here. ... read more
This is a solid second Ep from these two. Great songwriters.
I do think this Ep takes the backseat in comparison to Brent i. Their first effort was slightly less forced (obviously) and you can sorta tell. The two individual songs scared and sometimes were two song you couldn’t wait to get to when listening to the first Ep, but it’s almost the opposite on their second Ep Brent ii. I love the strong opener which sounds like ‘you were good to me’ pt 2 and the two ... read more
This is phora’s shortest album to date, and following very closely behind his previous album ‘With love 2’, which I enjoyed to a certain degree due to it having some of his most creative cuts to date. This new project honestly feels like a continuation, or deluxe version of that album with seven new tracks. He is still in his sad depressed R&B lane of course but at least I’m not hearing as many recycled bars!! He truly is finding his best pop melodies and catchiest ... read more
