In a brighter sound than before, the slightly rough synth tones blend beautifully with the pleasing guitar. The vocal melodies still have room for improvement, and the middle section of the album seems to suffer from some volume imbalances. To some extent, one could say this album leans toward an industrialized shoegaze sound. The opening and closing tracks still shine, with their condensed atmosphere and diverse instrumentation significantly enhancing listenability. However, much of the ... read more
Unexpectedly, this album broke through her Grammy curse in AOTY and clinched it, which prompted me to give it a listen. Although I don't believe this album represents her best work, it's undeniable that with a top-tier production team at her disposal, she couldn't possibly produce an album that's truly subpar. Chilling, relaxing, but also solid.
This EP just makes me recall some jazz rap songs' atmosphere, somehow.
While I think the lyrics might be normal, second track's instrumental is cool~ I love it.
And I have to say, charles' voice sounds d**n nostalgia.
the produce is quite delicate while the other aspects do not work well
Nah, Room Of Fools and Keep it Hold it should be kicked out. Childlike Things has no sense in the album. Striptease is a good song, but I don't know why it was put before 24 hrs Dog, which sounds like a demo of Caprisongs. As for the rest, only three singles actually made a success.
Somehow, all the tracks in this edition still didn't solve the problem. And she even didn't reach the level of her old-fashioned success.
