One of the only albums I'd ever dare call perfect, and I've heard quite a few at this point in my life. From every angle I look at it, Ys is a simply sublime work of art, in the truest sense, a masterpiece. Ys paints musical landscapes so vivid, sprawling, and beautiful, they could be hung up in museums for centuries to come. Newsom's vocals call back to centuries long past, and her sweeping, enveloping instrumentals and phenomenal songwriting all come together so beautifully with her vocals to transport me back to a time long ago. Whenever I listen to Ys, I feel like a princess in the late 1700s/early 1800s, walking around my castle, admiring the landscapes and the kingdom. This is the best album of all time - no question about it. Nothing like this has ever been made, and no album will ever be able to replicate it, or even touch it in terms of quality.
