Kristin Hayter might just be one of the most fascinating artists of my generation. Her music, while understandably difficult to get into, is really quite amazing in my eyes, and her output has been among the most unique of any artist working today, and "SAVED!" is no exception. While Hayter has tackled themes of Christianity and religion in past works, namely on records like "SINNER GET READY", I think her message gets across in an even more impactful and candid way here. Her powerful voice and deeply poetic lyricism really speaks to me and manages to make songs that feel both beautiful and devastating at the same time. It's this feeling that permeates so much of her work, and is at the core of what makes this album so fantastic in my opinion. The production choices here don't feel pretentious or like she's trying to purposefully make her music seem "scarier", they feel like intentional, artistic choices that not only serve the narrative that she's trying to tell, but add to the feeling of the music as well. All this is to say that I really, really loved this album. I wish I had more to say, but honestly I'm kind of left speechless by how immense this album feels. It's really and truly one of a kind, easily one of the best albums to come out in an already incredible year for music.
