17... it's fine.
It's clear from listening to this, knowing the background that this guy came from, and really just spending much time looking into him and what he was like that X was a pretty messed up individual, and one that carried a lot of demons with him during his incredibly short life. While there are points where this record manages to hook me on a lyrical level, ultimately there's not too much about 17 that stands out. Even the most popular song here, Jocelyn Flores, is really quite underwhelming and unfinished to me. The beat is pretty weak and, I'll say it again, underwhelming, and while the lyrics are certainly dark and hard to listen to, the track is so surprisingly short that it doesn't even feel like it has the proper time to develop into something interesting. So yeah, it's not one of the worst things ever, but this whole record just feels incomplete, and a bit rushed.
