as someone who actually enjoyed mgk's last two albums as well as neon shark, it's surprising how much i don't care about this new release. it's not that i think i would hate this project. i skimmed a few of the songs and some of it is kinda vibey but it just seems like hollow emo rap that never exceeds "kinda good". i just have so many better things to listen to i suppose. plus my enjoyment of their previous projects was more a result of travis barker anyway.
the title track is the only single i heard leading up to the album, and while it’s a good enough track that has only grown on me over time, it didn’t feel like all time low was playing to their strengths and my expectations were somewhat middling for this album, expecting a somewhat generic pop rock record that wouldn't rise above "pretty good". this was not helped by the very uninteresting cover art.

imagine dragons is my favorite band but this is terrible
literally just 33 minutes of pop punk cliches. 7/10 because pop punk is epic.
you ever listen to heat waves and think "you know what this needs, an iann dior verse"
such an under appreciated part of the band's discography. it shows them starting to develop their sound, so it sounds kind of like a mix between the sound of their later eps and a bit of the sound from their really old stuff. i didn't actually listen to their old eps until around 2018, about 5-6 years after i became a fan of imagine dragons. it felt like like listening to night visions or smoke + mirrors for the first time again. one thing i like about this ep is how much guitars are used ... read more
