45-->57 The hooks on a few songs grew on me, and i think i just got more used to their sound, i kinda was hating

Og:

Bro i never write this much wtf heres a tldr:
A lot of cool ideas, but something usually misses in the track and makes its fall apart, really bad sequencing and the tone of this album is so inconsistent its really distracting. Its got some great moments in the cracks tho
--------
This albums a really good example of how sequencing and tonal whiplash can really hurt an album, especially a big concept lore album like this. Im far from invested in the lore of this band, but I really doubt this complete tonal whiplash represents the character "clancy" returning to "trench" like I cant take the lore seriously when it goes from overcompensate to next semester. They dont have the focus here needed to make a concept album, and the effect is basicially the album feeling like im zipping across this universe, instead of feeling like in grandly coming back to this place like the album opener suggest.

track by track speaking because that where I feel more qualified to speak, i got some problem. Vocals are just not it a lot of time like on midwest indigo I really hate whats done vocally.
Also I dont know, something about their rapping doesnt work, and maybe its partially theyre mediocre writing, but i feel like their is something else I dont feel.

I dont like the more electronic beats, they just kinda take their large vocals too far to were i couldnt vibe with them.

Lavish has some really annoying vocals on the hooks, and again i hate that this right after a really serious song the craving, but this song has like a little merry upbeat sample and vibe.
Navigating has such cool production and then its got a really stupid lazy chorus thats way too large compared to the rest of the song imo
SnapBack is just a miss idk
oldies station has these really weird call and response vocals and I think they mess up the focus from the pretty serious ideas they talking through, I like the back 90 seconds or so of the song a lot.
ATROFD wasn't really impressing but it went reggae in the middle?

Now i done a lot of complaining, it wasnt all bad!
Overall I think it tackles some cool and larger than life ideas, and does some of them justice pretty well.
It opens pretty strong musicially with the first 3, which while I think have pretty bad tonal whiplash are individually all pretty fun songs, and would be really great if sequenced better.
routines in the night is a really fun song with a good hook.
i know the craving is one of the less liked songs, but I think that songs actually feels really real and its a really cool breath of fresh air from the really large sound from previous song from the album.
Paladin strait is a pretty strong closer that i think summed up the journey i think this album was *trying* to take me on.
