I do have to dock a few points from this EP because apparently the concept was that each song represented one of Shygirl's 'aliases' but the whole project sounds rather one-dimensional to me, but a heck of a dimension it is.
This type of grubby, grimy club music feels so... cinematic to me for some reason, like it could be the soundtrack to Gotham City. Shygirl's breathy vocal delivery with the often added distortion only enhances the menacing atmosphere that this EP emanates. That opening 3 track run from 'TWELVE', 'SLIME' all the way down to 'FREAK'? Literal perfection. It just scratches some part of my brain. The remaining tracks don't quite give me the same kind of satisfaction (except 'LENG') but they all boast their respective merits. A really really fantastic listen with tons of replay value.
